The time is almost up!

Yes, the time is almost here!  The first race is just a few more days away!

With only 3 days to go until my first race, I’m getting very excited.  This is the time of the year that I like best.  The time to prove myself. To see that what I did over the summer has in-fact paid off.  Though I don’t want to put to much emphasis on the first race, its hard to help myself!

The venue here in Ostersund, is just about ready to start the races also.  The last few days has seen much work all around us.  The temporary stands have been constructed, the kilometers of fence line surrounding the course have been put up to ensure the crazy fans do not get onto the course.   Just about every country’s athletes can be seen out training.  Yes, the time has almost come!

I myself have been hiding in my apartment for the last two days… Taking two last days of rest before a very demanding competition schedule starts up in two days.  Its helped me to stay warm as its been almost a constant -18C (0F) the last few days.  Depending on which weather sight you look at, the temps for the next few days vary from a cozy -10C all the way down to a wintry -20C.  We will soon see how much we’ll suffer!

Here are a few pictures from the stadium here tonight!

Also, I should mention that there is a parasite going around!  Three days ago the city found the parasite Cryptosporidium in the water supply.  This has caused about 1,000 people from across the city to come down with stomach “issues”.  Apparently it takes about 7-10 days to take effect, so far its been 12 since I arrived in Ostersund.  I’ve been ok so far, just a little stomach discomfort, nothing compared to my not so fortunate teammates.  I wish them a speedy recovery, and hope that I can stay away from it!

Thanks for checking in!
